Addiction/Recovery

“Not why the addiction, but why the pain”
– Gabor Mate, In the Realm of the Hungry Ghosts

Are substances how you cope with emotional pain?

Do you struggle with emotional pain and substances are how you cope? Do you want to identify the ways in which substances are having an impact on your life and gain insight into answers or solutions? Do you feel alone and need additional support?

What is addiction?

Addiction is the repeated involvement with a substance or activity, despite the substantial harm it now causes. Whatever form the addiction takes, from alcohol and drugs to nicotine, shopping, gambling, food, or the Internet, there is an attempt to find relief from emotional and/or physical distress.

Let’s go through your recovery together.

The recovery process can often be long and arduous.

Whether you are already in recovery and need additional support to maintain recovery or you are just beginning to recognize there is a problem, having someone to help support this process can be beneficial.

In therapy, together we can come up with a realistic and manageable plan toward feeling relief and reducing unhealthy patterns and behaviors that leave you feeling stuck. We may discuss harm reduction, abstinence, and how to maintain and develop a life-long strategy for better coping. I offer warmth and expertise to guide you through the process.

I can help you, and YOU decide the path you want to take for recovery.

Let’s start your journey on the road to recovery.
